Guided tour through the Moravian Kopanice region
Seasonal program: May, June, (September) | designed for: Primary and Secondary School Students
program duration: 120–180 minutes
admission: 30 CZK per student (free for accompanying teachers)
This educational program is led by a museum educator who guides students through the Moravian Kopanice region. Over the course of 2–3 hours, the group visits various fascinating sites in Žítková. The goal is to introduce students to the history of this region in its authentic setting. Students will learn about traditional folk costumes, vernacular architecture, and the now-vanished way of life of the people who lived here during the 18th and 19th centuries. The program explores the daily struggles and livelihoods of the locals, their traditions and customs, including intriguing and true stories about the famous Žítková goddesses– their lives, practices, and the paths they used to walk. The group will visit locations where these women collected medicinal herbs and spices.
The excursion can also include visits to traditional food producers or craftspeople. Possible stops along the way include a fruit-drying house; a demonstration of traditional milk processing and cheese-making; an outdoor bread oven; and visits to or presentations about the homes of the Žítková goddesses. Throughout the excursion, participants will enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Moravian Kopanice region, so don’t forget to bring cameras – there will be plenty of beautiful sights to capture!
Additional options: accommodation or group meals can be arranged in advance at the Hotel Kopanice in Žítková.
In the event of bad weather, the program can be rescheduled or canceled.
